Understand different statuses of the Checkout Card Reader. Identify and troubleshoot potential issues.

LED Indicator

Your card reader has a single LED light. It may show different colors & patterns to indicate different statuses. Please refer to the list below of possible statuses:

Light

Meaning

None

Card reader is off

Flashing blue every second

Card reader is on and ready to connect to a device. Will turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Multicolored flashing

Card reader has been discovered using Bluetooth Proximity and is ready to connect.

Steady blue

Card reader is connected to a device.

Flash blue every 5 seconds

Card reader is in standby mode. Remains in standby indefinitely.

Alternating red & magenta

Card reader is charging.

Flashing red

Card reader's battery is low.

Rapidly flashing blue & red

Card reader has finished installing a software update.

NFC LED Indicators

When paying with a card tap, you may encounter a number of different responses from the card reader.
